Thirty years since his death Chagall's 200 artworks have ever celebrated his innocence world far-off days of human tragedy memories he saw and lived.
Marc Chagall (1887-1985) born in Vitebsk, Belarus ( Russian embire) regarded as an early modernist artist who associated major artistic styles and elements.
The ' last survivor of the first generation of European modernists' as he was considered to be transferred his life memories to a fantasy's world and experiencing his 'ideology' of the artistic freedom.
His home-city Beleurs a picturesque city - that called also ' Russian Toledo' gave him his first scenes day after day, winter ans summer and frequently asked questions about artistic inspirations.
As a Jewish child his art seems to be the response to the history of Russian Jews.
His biographer Franz Meyer noticed '....his connections between his art and early life...is still the basic and source of nourishment for his art...'

Even later when he became a cosmopolitan artist Franz Meyer explained '...his storehouse of visual
imagery  would never expand beyond the landscape of his childhood, with its snowy streets, wooden houses and ubiquitous fiddlers scenes of childhood so indelibly in one's mind and to invite them with an emotional charge so intense that it could only be discharged obliquely through an obsessive repetition of these same cryptic symbols and ideograms...'

Chagall was 57 years old when accepted and confirmed these remarkable and intense artistic inspirations that had always followed  his paintings through an open letter entitled:
                                                            ' To My City Vitebsk'.
While he had been living in the USA he written at ' To My City Vitebsk' .....
' Why? Why did I leave you many years ago? You though,he boy seeks something, seeks such a special subtlety, that colour descending like stars from the sky and landing, bright and transparent, like snow on our roofs .

Where did he get it?
How would it come to boy like him?
I don't know why he couldn't find it with us, in the city - in his homeland.
May be the boy is 'crazy' , but 'crazy' for the sake of art...You thought I can see, I am etched in the boy's heart, but he is still 'flying', he is still striving to take off, he has ' wind' in his head'...

I did not live with you, but I didn't have one single painting that didn't breathe with your spirit and reflection.'
