The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier who was born in 1952 in Arcueil, France and was the creative director of Hermes (2003/ 2010), has created a special style of fashion over the last 35 years with unique models and also avant-garde creations. The exhibition at the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam is the first international presentation of the famous designer of his artworks in fashion who never studied design.

Gaultier became designer by sending sketches to all well known couture stylists. One of them found his style of design really significant. He was Pierre Cardin who was impressed and hired him as an assistant in 1970. In 1976 he shown his first individual collection that it was impressive some years later due to its rude and irreverent style. In 1985 he designed man-skirts and produced special for Madonna sculptured costumes. One of these was her 'cone bra' that she used in 1990 for her 'Blond Ambition Tour. He created also for Madonna the wardrobe for her Confession Tour ( 2006).
