A trip to the nature at Weesp, province North Holland , the Netherlands

Weesp with it's area " Vechtstreek"  and next to Amsterdam Rhine Canal which connected the City of Amsterdam with the port Rotterdam, only 3 kilometers from Amsterdam is a town surrounded  by grass fields and countryside.. Next to the rivers Vecht and  Small Weesp the city has a prodected historical centrum and its  buildings dated back to 17th and 18th century.
Weesp was granted city rights  in 1355 and celebrated its 650th anniversary  as a town  in 2005.                                                              

The river Vecht was from the Middle Ages a defensive line for the country of Holland, strongly fortified with forts, barracks and different military structures. The most important line for the difence was the Defence Line of Amsterdam or in Dutch ' Stelling van Amsterdam". Nowdays, the Defence Line of Amsterdam  belong to a UNESCO Heritage Site.
