Covers an area of 25.000 square meters of which 14.000 square meters are used as exhibition space, the Acropolis Museum of Athens was inaugurated in 2009.
It was founded to present all the significant finds of the Sacred Rock and its foothills.
Designed by the architect Bernard Tschumi and Michael Photiadis the Museum is established only 300 meters south of the Acropolis and 2 kilometers from the center of the capital of Greece.
Its main entrance formed a pedestrian walkway that presents the central axis within the unified network of the city's archaeological places.
