Marec&Vadot in Brussels: A turbulent decade in 100 cartoons!



Marec and Vadot who's cartoons exhibition can be seen until 31-01-2011 in Brussels aren't only cartoonists.
Marec is also painter. Since 2000 his work has been published by Van Halewyck: Op papier de beste(2000), Collector's Item(2001), Het land van de glimach(2002), Verse Lakens(2003), Pere Albert (2004), Oh Veilig Belgie (2005), Uitvercoht(2006), Seks en Drugs en Protocol (2007), Leve de crisis  (2009), De Marec Code (2010) and in June of this year he created a stamp for the Belgian Postal Services focusing on " Humour makes for strenght.."

By cartoons ...Operation " enduring freedom"Marec is being described the matter on
 October 2001. Retalitation for the 9/11 attacks, as a US-led coalition bombs Afganistan, a country strangled by the formidable Taliban or "students of religion, who is also suspectided of protecting and hurburing Al Qaeda, including it's leader Osama Bin Laden. His pursuit last ten years. The Taliban regime is quickly toppled, leading to general elections in 2004. With two words the country is far from peaceful and allied forces are faced with a heavy death toll.

Brazil, Idia and China three countries in rapid expansion with booming populations and a constantly increasing apetite for wealth are changed the balance of power across the planet. Emerging countries a new ball game...

                                        Europe: 50 years old and how many divisions?


Vadot he was born in Carshalton UK to a France father and an English mother.
His work includes also several graphic novels "Imaginaire trilogy" 2001-2004, Editionsdu Lombard 2006, Editions Casterman 2009, Edition Santawe 2011.
.In Februari 2011 he won the second price in Press Cartoon Belgium(PCB). In June he created a stamp for B-Post focusing " on humour makes for strenght".

Press cartoons make us laugh. Without them, our lives would be much sadder. Byt they are no laughing matter. They have the power to inform, and also to offened.

Marc Chagall's Calvary in The Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam

Marc Chagall's masterpiece 'Calvery',1912 is a depiction of his super reality, alogical, and  irrational imagination as Guillaume Apollinaire refer to him as a ' surrealist' and as Andre Breton call also him the 'Pope of Surrealism'.

Frans' Post 34 unknown drawings at The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. The Netherlands.

Spectacular discovery of 17th century Golden Age the drawings by Frans Post(1612-1680) which are on display at The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam from 7 October 2016 to 8 January.
Under the title 'Frans Post.Animals in Brazil' the exhibition present 34 unrecognized for centuries artworks by Frans Post from Haarlem-The Netherlands-which were discovered in the Noord-Holland Archief, Haarlem,created by Frans Post in the years 1637-1644 when he worked in Brazil.
The first European artist who painted landscapes and therefore of South Africa but as we know now also animals in Brazil, Frans Post contemporary of Frans Hall traveled in 1636 to Dutch Brazil at the invitation of Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen.
