Antony Gormley's three dimensional space- art in Amsterdam.

Artzuid Sculpture International Route Amsterdam 2011.
The international famous artist Antony Gormley explores the relationship between the human body and the space surrounding it. This is exactly his point in his sculpture ' Firmament III(unique) made by stainless steel which is located in Amsterdam.

He works on huge scale as in Exposure(2010) -26 metres- a figure squatting in a polder landscape in Dutch
province Flevoland ( Lelystad ).

Antony Gormley's "Quantum Cloud" was commissioned for a site next to the Millennium Dome in London. It is Gormley's tallest sculpture to date ( 30 m high ), taller than the " Angel of the North" whish is located in Gateshead
England (standing 20 metres with wings 54 metres).
" Angel of the North".

Gormley's sculptural work can be likened to a drawing of three-dimensional space, reduced to an infinite number of successive planes, similar to the 3D images in an MRI scan. His art is inspired by a theory devised by Scottish physicist Lord Kelvin who found that the most efficient way of structuring structiring space is by using a geometric shape found in the three-dimensional honeycomb structures of foam bubbles.

Gornley's work has been widely exhibited through the UK as Hayward Gallery, British Museum and White Cube, but also all over the world as Louisiana Museum(Denmark), Museum of Modern Art New York, etc.
Lord Kelvin's was applied by Gormley and the result is a sculpture where the figure is both solid and transparent at the same time and whre ligt, is given free play in the construction, forms in the end the image of the figure inside it.

The Gornley's work in Amsterda is entitled Firmament III, in reference to how we use lines to connect stars in the night sky to form constellations.
